1. Welcome & Announcements

September marks the beginning of a new school year, and brings so many new opportunities and possibilities. Kid are back to school, and for many parents it's time to go back to work. For me, this is the "natural" time of year to re-affirm my priorities, review my progress and re-commit to finishing the year strong. Like everyone else, I make New Year's Resolutions, do the budget and set targets in January, but September is a much better time for me to get serious about my goals. January always seems too rushed after the holidays, and frankly, in the dead of winter I'm just not as inspired!

One of the goals I set for myself was to stay fit and healthy. OK, I set this goal every single year (who doesn't?), but since I just turned 40 this year, it has special meaning for me. Ironically, I've had several health issues this year. Nothing major, but enough to consume considerable amount of my energy, time and of course, money. For example, I spent MANY hours this summer in physical therapy and chiropractic care because of mild disc herniations in both my neck and lower back. Talk about the pain in the neck (literally)!! I've had some solitary time to meditate on some "life stuff" on the traction table. Do you know what defines you? You can read about it here.

If you know me, you know that's not gonna stop me from pursuing my dreams. A few months ago, I set a goal to compete in a Chinese Kung Fu tournament in September. I started taking Kung Fu and Tai Chi Sword classes this year, and I know for me to do well in something, I need to challenge myself. However, as summer came and I was spending all that time in tests and treatments, I started to feel unsure about the tournament. There was less than 2 weeks left and I didn't even own a uniform. I finally had to ask myself: "Are you 100% committed or just sort-of, kind-of want to do this?" It's time to clean up my act. So, I got my Kung Fu uniform and matching tassels for my sword, and I AM competing this Saturday for my very first Kung Fu tournament. It WILL be a new adventure and fun experience for me. It will certainly make a good bedtime story for my future grandchildren. Wish me luck!
The year is almost three-quarters gone, but it's still not too late to make 2006 your best year ever. The year is NOT over until we do the final countdown in front of the Times Square! Why not take time to review your goals this week? Check your sales forecasts and your budget. If you had a weight loss goal, get on that bathroom scale and have a reality check. Get a calendar and plot some graphs to see how you're doing. Then, use that information to end 2006 on target and going strong! Make it happen! Whatever you want to achieve, begin today!

And, if you'd like coaching to be more productive, drop me an email. I have a couple of openings for individual clients and several spots to do trainings with your business or group this year. If you'd like to talk about possibilities, contact me at Hueina@BeyondHorizonCoaching.com. Let's get to work!
