Life Balance: The Snapshot of Your Life
© copyright 2006 Hueina Su, Beyond Horizon Coaching

I was reading my Digital Photography magazine the other day. One of the articles talks about the elements of good composition in photography. Of course, one of the main criteria is that you have to make the main subject of the photograph stand out. When you look at a photograph, you have to be able to tell, beyond the shadow of the doubt, who/what the main subject is. An out-of-focus photo is not going to cut it, of course. But a great picture needs more than just focus.

The author argues that, most photographers (amateur or professional) are afraid of getting "close enough" to their subjects. He said, when you move in so close that you can see the sweat on the forehead of the pottery artist, you have a good chance of getting a powerful picture.

But more often than not, we see the kind of photographs with so much "background clutter" that we can't really see the main subject clearly.

Whenever we go on a vacation, I dread asking total strangers to take pictures of me and my family. First of all, they often don't know how to use my SLR camera. Second of all, I almost always end up with either a blurred picture, or a picture where you need a magnifying glass to find us.

Don't you just hate that?!

Now that I have a digital SLR (talk about instant gratification!) AND I've learned to be much more picky about who I ask to take our pictures (hint: look for those who also carry a SLR camera), my odds of getting a good vacation group picture has gotten better.

Now, you might ask: What does this have to do with life?

If someone takes a snapshot of your life today, what does your picture look like?

Is the snapshot of your life a close-up, powerful composition with you front and center, and all the important elements of your life clearly visible & arranged according to their priorities?

Are you out-of-focus, or looking sharp in the picture?

Or does it look like a random snapshot of chaos, with so much clutter you can barely see yourself?

Or, perhaps (gasp!) you are totally invisible?!!!

Remember that TV commercial where you see the housework being done, baby being fed, laundry being folded, BUT you cannot see the Mommy at all? Do you feel like that Invisible Mommy sometimes? Or all the time?

What feelings surfaced when you look at this imaginary snapshot of your life? If you have a snapshot that's taken so far away from you, what was it that prevented you to take a close-up look at yourself and your life? What is it that you don't like about yourself or your life? What are you avoiding/denying?

If you have a snapshot that's cluttered, or out-of-focus, what do you want your picture to look like instead? What elements need to be included and how do you want to arrange them in the picture?

Most importantly, what are you going to do to make this happen?

A picture is worth a thousand words, but action speaks louder than any words. What can you do this week to de-clutter, re-arrange, and re-focus your life?

What will be your first baby step?

Set your intention, craft out an action plan, tell someone to get the accountability & support, and get going!!!

Mind is Healer, Mind is Slayer - What are you creating today?
Dear Friend,

We all know that minds create and most of us put a lot of energy into positive thinking. Why then are we living in such troubling times? Today I bring you information that is vital for living truly free lives, where we are in control and can once again create our ideal life.

I am writing about my friend and colleague, Eldon Taylor and his brand new book, Mind Programming: From Persuasion and Brainwashing to Self-Help and Practical Metaphysics. This is simply a must-read book! This message is so important that many of the world's visionaries, myself included, have joined together to support this book launch.

As you read this book, you'll feel the blinders being removed and you will truly see the world in an entirely new light.

Jeff Warrick,
documentary filmmaker, Programming the Nation

Eldon bares the facts, exposing the groups ranging from media types to governmental agencies that have spent billions of dollars learning how to surreptitiously gain access to your thoughts, your motivations and your choices. See for yourself in the 'smoking gun' of advertising manuals, in the secret clandestine work of governmental agencies, in the neuro-technology labs of the sellers of goods and services. You will be shocked and horrified at the extent a few have gone to shape every aspect of your thinking, and this programming goes on everyday!

Brainwashing and marketing are big business; and your precious mind is a coveted commodity. In this book Eldon Taylor exposes all and tells you how to take your power back and be free to become your own best self. Eldon is a grand master of the mind

Joan Borysenko, Ph.D.
author of Your Soul's Compass

More details here.

Mind Programming is really two books in one. The first half of the book is the tell-all story that uncovers the unseen influences that are so pervasive, penetrating and effective. The second half of the book is all about the tools and technologies you can use to cleanse your mind of the non-sense you may not have even recognized as being present before reading this liberating book. Think about it. How many original thoughts do you really have? How many thoughts are about your limitations, your fears, your anxieties, the things you want, and so forth. You will learn that from sickness and anxiety to the way you comb your hair and dress, and so much more, are all a part of what you have been trained to think and choose. You will also learn some very simple easy-to-use tools that can free your mind and empower your being.

In a period when fear has reached a frenzied pitch, Taylor shines a brilliant spotlight to dispel the darkness!

Angelina Heart
author of The Teaching of Little Crow

Even if you already have some awareness of the everyday mind manipulation techniques, and are already guarding against these intrusions, there will be areas you simply have not heard of. Even if none of this information is of interest to you because you are already guarding the input into your minds, you will be thankful to finally have the facts, figures and hard evidence to present to your family and friends, so they too can escape from the everyday brainwashing. But Eldon does not leave it there as he also covers numerous tools and techniques to assist you in taking back the control of your mind. These tools range from exercises that will not cost you a penny, such as the '50-day plan,' automatic writing, and mind exercises, to high tech (but affordable) tools such as cortical electro-stimulation. Whatever your preference, Mind Programming will provide you with the information vital for today's climate.

PLUS: Mind Programming ships with a free, high-tech, mind-training CD, that utilizes the patented and proven InnerTalk technology.

More details here.

Even though I consider myself to be quite aware of what is going on in the world, this book boldly shatters illusions about how extensive the mind control in our society has become. Are you really free? Only if you can take back control your mind. Thank heavens, Dr. Taylor shows us how in one of the most important books I have ever read.

author of Be the Hero of Your Own Game

Today- 2 Teleseminars to Celebrate National Women's Week

May 10, 2009 marks the beginning of the 10th annual National Women's Health Week, initiated by The US Dept of Health and Human Services, Office on Women’s Health. The theme for this year is “It’s Your Time.”

National Women’s Health Week provides an opportunity to raise awareness and increase access to health care for women across the life cycles. During the Week, community as well as government agencies work together to bring attention to and create an understanding of women's and girls’ health issues; provide free or low-cost health screenings for women nationwide; and educate women about steps they can take to improve their physical and mental health and prevent disease.

I hope you take this as a reminder to put your self-care as a top priority, and take good care of your physical & emotional health. After all, you are all you've got.

Ode to Motherhood
Ode to Motherhood
© copyright 2008 Hueina Su

To all the moms:

Happy Mother's Day!

You have worked so hard, all year around. I hope you get to take a day off, and enjoy your special day. I hope you love the festivities and/or any loving gestures your family bestow on you. Even if none of your family is around to celebrate this day with you, I hope you make a point to do or have something you love today. Hey, this is your special day, and you totally deserve it.

I just called my Mom in Taiwan. None of us could spend Mother's Day with her, and my dad had to attend a meeting today. I was so glad to find that Mom was in a good mood, nonetheless. I said, "Well, Mom, since Dad is not home, you've got a day off! How are you going to celebrate your special day?" She told me cheerfully that she's got some ideas -- she might visit this or that city, do some shopping, visit her favorite coffee shop, etc. She was getting herself ready to go out and enjoy her free time. I'm pretty sure she is going to dress up and have fun out on the town. Way to go, Mom! That's the spirit!

Motherhood is life-changing. I'm positive that you'd agree with me. Being a mom has changed me on so many levels. It's the most challenging job I've ever taken on, and the most amazing journey I've experienced. I'd never trade it for anything in the world.

Before you go out for your Mother's Day celebration, here are some thoughts for you to ponder.

You are loving and caring... You give your children unconditional love, the highest level of love in the world. You are the go-to person when anyone needs TLC - a hug, a kiss, some encouraging words, or chocolate chip cookies. You are love, personified.

You are patient... Reading "The Little Engine That Could" for the 1,000th time, with the same level of joy and enthusiasm (even when you were so tired you could barely keep your eyes open); getting your toddler potty trained; helping your child with challenging homework; sewing your child's school play or Halloween costume... that takes patience.

You are committed... Hey, you took on a life-long commitment to be a mom, didn't you?!

You are strong and you persevere... Think about what you had to go through to bring your child to the world -- the pregnancy, the labor pain, the adoption process -- need I say more? Think about all the challenges you've gone through to take care of your children and make sure they are healthy, safe and happy. You are much tougher than you give yourself credit for.

You are disciplined... You get up every morning to take care of your family, cooking, feeding, bathing, cleaning... day after day, after day. If that's not discipline, I don't know what is.

You take charge and get things done... You are the one who organizes and coordinates everyone's schedules, and make sure nobody misses doctor's appointments, soccer practice, band concert, birthday party, anniversary dinner (even if you have to plan it yourself).

You know when to say no and stand your ground... You have no problem telling your toddler or teenager what they are not supposed to do, even if you know they are not gonna like you.

You are creative... You've created a loving home for your children. You use your creativity in the ways you show your love, the foods you cook, the stories you tell, the imaginative plays, the silly songs you make up, the garden you planted and all the family vacations and memories you help create.

You are powerful... You were given the power and privilege to co-create a life (your child), to help your child reach his/her full potential and create a better world. That's enormous power and responsibility.

You are beautiful... Have you ever looked deeply into your child's eyes and see your own reflection? You are absolutely beautiful... no laugh lines or stretch marks could ever diminish your beauty.

I hope you take a few moment here and let it all sink in.

Next time, when someone else, or that nasty little voice in your head, tells you that you are not loving enough, strong enough, pretty enough, disciplined enough, or that you are too "selfish" for taking care of yourself, or whatever, tell them to get lost. They simply don't know any better.

You are perfect and whole, just the way you are. You deserve to be loved and adored, just like you love and adore your children. Now, go ahead, and celebrate this day the way you truly deserve.

Forward this message to any moms you know who could use a little validation or encouragement. As moms, we ought to support and empower one another.

Take good care of yourself... you are irreplaceable!

Love & Blessings,
Hueina
