  • How to make sure my kids are not getting into trouble while I'm working?
  • How to get my daughter to learn life skills (dealing with people, stress, money, chores, self-care, etc.) during "downtime" of summer?

Letting Go and Moving Forward
This is another great example of making a conscious choice to live in the present moment, to let go of the past, and to move forward, using the Law of Attraction to create what you desire.
====================

Letting Go and Moving Forward
by Karim Hajee, the Official Guide to the Law of Attraction

Let's face it. Many of us choose to hang on to things that at some point have hurt us, angered us, made us feel sad, or depressed us. If we choose to hang on to them, we will never move forward and we could even create physical or medical damage to our bodies. To prevent this from happening we need to let go but no one really tells you how to let go and move forward. Sure it's easy to say: "Just let go, move forward, forget about it, just let go." But that really doesn't work. I'm about to show you how to let go and start moving forward.

*** Why You Need to Let Go and Move Forward ***

Throughout our lives we go through different experiences, some are positive and some we see as negative and unpleasant. When you hang on to a negative or unpleasant experience you are constantly thinking about it. And when you constantly think about that negative event you prevent yourself from healing. How many pleasant memories do you recall everyday? Chances are you're like most people and you have a number of unpleasant experiences that you're holding on to, which is preventing you from moving forward.

The more you carry the worse life gets. Why? Because you've filled your mind up with negative experiences, because you continually hang on to something that doesn't allow you to move forward, in short, you're carrying useless baggage that's really slowing you down.

Think of it this way: you're on a hiking trip and along the way you keep picking up heavy objects, things that really don't serve you. After a while, these objects begin to slow you down and unless you get rid of them, you'll never complete your trip.

To let go you have to get your mind to focus on different goals and different objectives. It's not about saying: I let go of the pain from my fight with ---- and move on. That will help, but if you really want to start moving on, then you have to get your mind to focus on new things, in the process you automatically let go of the things that have been slowing you down.

*** How to Let Go and Move Forward ***

Researchers believe that that if you hold on to negative feelings, sad emotions or depressing memories there is a possibility that you could reshape the human cell to the point where your thoughts of the past have a negative effect on your cells and your physical health.

Hanging on to negative past events is a process that can destroy your life in ways you're not even aware of. Ask yourself these questions: Do the negative things you hang on to serve you any purpose? Do they help you move forward? Do they work in your favor in any way? If you said no to any or all of the above then tell yourself this: This emotion/feeling doesn't help me so I'm letting it go and focusing on what is important. Then begin focusing on what you want next, focus on what is important and what can improve your life. This is a simple process that gets the mind moving in a new direction and you stop building negative energy created from the negative events/emotions, which only attracts more negative situations. When you begin focusing on more positive things you begin attracting positive situations.

The next step is to create an action plan. The past is over. Where do you want to go now and how do you plan to get there? You may not have the answers but merely thinking about the options forces your mind to go in a new direction and you automatically let go of unwanted feelings and emotions.

The key to your success is to train your mind to move in a new direction so you send new messages to your subconscious mind, which then brings you the opportunities to move forward.

The final step is to live in the present moment, to start living in the now. Living in the now is different than living for the moment. Living in the now is the process of enjoying everything that is going on at this present moment. Take a look around you and appreciate those things that you once thought were trivial. When you are here now you can be nowhere else. You are not hanging on to something, you are here now. I know some of you may say the following: "But Karim, where I am right now really sucks, I don't want to think about it." It only sucks because you're looking at all the negative things going on. Focus on a few of the positive things, anything from nature to the wonderful family you may have. This forces your mind to look at things differently and tells your subconscious mind that you're ready for new possibilities, then you'll begin to let go and move forward.

The Magic Of Love

The Magic Of Love

by Helen Steiner Rice

Love is like magic
And it always will be.
For love still remains
Life's sweet mystery!!
Love works in ways
That are wondrous and strange
And there's nothing in life
That love cannot change!!
Love can transform
The most commonplace
Into beauty and splendor
And sweetness and grace.
Love is unselfish,
Understanding and kind,
For it sees with its heart
And not with its mind!!
Love is the answer
That everyone seeks...
Love is the language,
That every heart speaks.
Love can't be bought,
It is priceless and free,
Love, like pure magic,
Is life's sweet mystery!!

Homecoming to You: Re-connecting with Your Authentic Self
© copyright 2007 Hueina Su, Beyond Horizon Coaching

Joan* came to me because she was unhappy with her job. She has worked as an accountant for many years, and has become bored with the job. She is good at what she does, and makes a good living, however, she kept thinking that her life could be so much more than just being an accountant. On the other hand, she was hesitant to make a career change, worrying that the change could negatively impact her husband and 3 young children. Most importantly, when I asked her what career she would like to pursue, she was drawing blank. In fact, she couldn't even tell me what her passion was or what she enjoyed doing.

Michelle* is a successful physician -- on the outside. On the inside, though, she is heading toward burnout. Her escape is daydreaming about opening her own cafe someday, but, of course, she doesn't have the gut to go for it. Her reason is, she has invested so much time & money (look at the huge student loan!) in medicine that she doesn't want to give up, and doesn't feel that she has any choice but to continue (even though she is miserable). And besides, she doesn't really know what else she could do besides being a physician.

Annie* is a stay-at-home mom with two school-age children. She told me that she is a proud mother, her children are doing very well, and her marriage is good, but, recently she has felt more and more unhappy when she thought about her life. "I mean, everybody knows me as so-and-so's mom, or so-and-so's wife, and that's it." She said, "Nobody seems to know who I am without my husband and kids. The scary thing is, neither do I." As her children get older, Annie becomes more anxious about what to do with herself when her children are all grown-up.

What these women are suffering from is identity crisis, among other things. They have somehow become so disconnected from their Inner Self, or Authentic Self, that they have "lost" themselves while pursuing professional success or going through life transitions.

One of the issues all 3 women share is that they have become too attached to their role/job, and all the expectations that come with such a role/job. Some of these expectations might even be self-imposed. For example, Michelle thinks that everyone should pick a career path and stick with it until retirement, and that's why she should stick to medicine. She also worries that if she gives up her prestigious career, everyone will lose respect for her. Annie, on the other hand, believes that in order to be a good mother, she must sacrifice her own career and personal interest for her children.

Can you relate to this kind of thinking?

Whenever we say we should or must do something or feel/behave in a certain way, we are judging ourselves. We are saying that there is something wrong with whatever we are currently feeling/doing, and that's why we need to change (for someone else's sake).

When you judge yourself this way, either consciously or unconsciously, on a regular basis, you are denying your Authentic Self, and damaging your self-esteem. If you keep ignoring your true feelings and that "small, still voice" inside of you (your intuition), overtime, you would become totally disconnected from your Authentic Self.

I always say that awareness is the first step of change. So, now that you are aware of your issue, what can you do to re-connect with your Authentic Self? Here are a few coaching questions to get you started on the "homecoming" journey:

Who are you?

Your tendency is probably to answer this with your job title or the roles you play (mother, daughter, sister, friend, etc.). Instead of these answers, try to come up with a description of who YOU really are as a person.

What qualities do you have?

Try to come up with some characteristics that best describe you. If you are drawing blank, you can ask a few good friends or your family to help you. You might be pleasantly surprised by how other people perceive you. Now, be careful not to pass judgements on any of the characteristics that others tell you. Many qualities can be perceived as either positive or negative traits. For example, your friends might think your attention to details is a positive trait, but you see it as being a perfectionist (which often holds you back). Or, you might be spontaneous & fun-loving, yet others might see you as impulsive. The point is to find your traits without judging them.

What do you like about yourself? Why? What are your strengths?

Now, look at all the traits you have identified, which ones are your strengths? Why do you think these qualities are positive for you? What are you good at doing?

What do you dislike about yourself? Why? How might you look at it differently?

As I said, most personallity traits can be perceived as either positive or negative. It all depends on how you interpret them. Can you reframe how you look at your less-favorable traits? Sometimes there's a blessing in disguise. For example, you might find that in the process of trying to compensate for these traits, you become stronger or more patient as a result.

What do you enjoy doing? What's fun for you?

Think about the kind of activities you love so much that, when you do them, time seems to disappear. If you have trouble answering these questions, recall what you liked as a child. What did you most enjoy doing back then? What did you want to do when you grow up?

What's your purpose/mission in life? What are you passionate about?

What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind? What kind of job would you love to do, even if you would never get paid?

When you can figure out who you are, and what you love to do, then you can take proactive steps to honor your Authentic Self and your needs. Now that you have clarity about who you are, you can make conscious choices about what you want to do. Create an action plan to incorporate these activities into your daily life, and/or long-term goals. Perhaps you need to change your career or relationships. Perhaps all you need is schedule regular ME time to recharge and do something you love. The more you can honor and nurture your Authentic Self, the more joy and peace will flow in your life.

"All that you need
in order to have total happiness,
fulfillment, and love in your life
you already have right now,
whoever you are, wherever you are."

Starting a Coaches Mastermind Group
The other day, I was invited by an experienced coach & friend to attend a coaches' gathering at her house. She invited about 8 coaches who all graduated from the same professional coaching school iPEC Coaching. Some of us hadn't seen each other for months, and some of us had never met. The purpose of the meeting was for us to catch up, meet new colleagues (some coaches just finished their training), and to determine if there was any desire for us to meet on a regular basis.

It's always wonderful to meet other professional coaches, whether from the same school or not, to compare notes and possibly make new friends. I'm always curious about their business experience, coaching niche and personal stories. I believe I can always learn something from everyone I meet.

Making new friends and having fun is important. On the other hand, if we were to meet on a regular basis, I'd like to make the most of our time together and really learn something valuable from the group. After all, we are a group of professional coaches who can offer a lot for one another.

There were 6 of us there, and everyone showed interest in meeting on a regular basis. So, when we discussed what we would like to get out of this group, and the directions we would like to focus on, I suggested that we made our group a coaches mastermind group.

After a lively discussion, we agreed to establish a coaches mastermind group for:
  • mutual support
  • mutual accountability
  • interpersonal contact

We would like to use our meetings to focus on our roles as coaches through:
  • coaching skills practice
  • coaching case studies
  • business how to's
  • presentation skills
  • shared resources
  • networking & referrals

We also envisioned that we could collaborate to create coaching-related programs & events in the future, and create "energy dominoes" (ripple effects) to the society at large through our mastermind group.

We've agreed to commit ourselves to this group process, and we would send out invitations to the other two coaches who couldn't make it that day. The group decided that we would plan to meet once a month, and test out the group meeting format & frequency for the first couple of months. At that point, we will re-evaluate the effectiveness of our mastermind group. Depending on whether everyone would accept the invitation to form this mastermind group, we may or may not invite more members to join our group.

I hope for great success from our new mastermind group.

Life Lessons from Coffee Cups
I received this article via email from a friend. I love the metaphor and the profound message from this story. I hope you do, too!

Good Coffee
(Author Unknown)

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups.

Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of Life we live.

Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God has provided us. God brews the coffee, not the cups.......... Enjoy your coffee!"

"The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything."

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

Awaken The Goddess Within Teleclass Recording
Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day. I sure did.

Our "Awaken The Goddess Within" Teleclass was amazing. What a powerful dialogue we had! My guest speaker Leigh Anne told me afterwards that she was working with the audience on an energy level, while she was teaching the Teleclass. There must have been high level of energy in class -- so much so that it shut down the Bridgeline recording function half way through the class! Ooops!!! When I told Leigh Anne afterwards, she said it was common for a mystic to create so much energy that it interferes with electronic equipments.

Don't worry -- I have a back up recording with my digital recorder. I'm a mom and moms always have Plan B, right? :-)

Anyway, the Teleclass recording is ready on my website. Check it out! I hope you enjoy this Teleclass. What's your biggest insight? I'd love to hear some feedback from you!

Journey into Love

Happy Mother's Day!!!

As I woke up to this beautiful sunny morning, having just returned from a whole day of empowering & healing experience at the Morristown Women's Festival yesterday, I felt totally at peace and joyful. I felt loved. And, above all, I felt grateful.

It's been an absolutely amazing journey for me as a mother. My daughter is 11 and my son is 9 this year. I feel blessed to have my Mom and sisters (pictured, I was 3 months pregnant with my daughter then), and so many wonderful girlfriends with me on this journey.

Just as we are growing our children, our children are growing us! I've learned so much about myself, and grown so much as a woman.

I hope you celebrate today, knowing that you are the perfect mom for your child(ren).

I hope you enjoy this day, knowing that no matter where you are on your life's journey, you are on the right path to become the woman you are meant to be.

I hope you trust and surrender to your Self, and relax into it.

I hope you let your Inner Goddess come out and play, even just for a day!

I hope you savor today, knowing that you are loved.

You hold within you the love you are seeking.

You are LOVE.

Awaken Your Goddess & Women's Festival
Happy Thursday!

I hope you're having a great week so far. If you're a mom, I bet you are excited about this weekend. If you're a guy reading this, I hope you've got a great Mother's Day gift ready. My mom & dad are flying in from Taiwan on Mother's Day, so I'm very excited! I have a jam-packed week, so I'll try to keep this short.

1) May 11th (THIS Friday) F.REE Teleclass "Awaken the Goddess Within"

Do you feel like you are living a life according to others' expectations and rules, instead of your own? That's because you gave up your power over some false beliefs. These false beliefs & "stories" prevent you from speaking your own truth, honoring your Authentic Self, and living a life you desire. Mother's Day is just around the corner. Carnival of Family Life 1-Year Anniversary Edition

The Carnival of Family Life is celebrating its 1-year Anniversary at its founder Kailani's blog An Island Life this week. There are a whopping 61 submissions this week!

I have participated in a lot of blog carnivals, and I can honestly say that the Carnival of Family Life is one of those that consistently host high-quality articles. I'm very happy to be part of this 1-Year Anniversary edition this week (check out my post "Pennies in the Shoes" about my son's scary mis-adventure last weekend).

If you are a parent, you're gonna love this Carnival. Make sure you go over there to check out those wonderful (and some downright hilarious) articles at the Carnival of Family Life this week!

Entrepreneur Blog Network
I was invited by my friend & colleague Evan Carmichael to join his new initiative "Entrepreneur Blog Network". For those of you who do not know Evan, he is the owner of EvanCarmichael.com (Motivation and Strategies for Entrepreneurs), Mastermind Group Resources Blog, and Selling to Small Business Blog. Evan is based in Toronto, Canada. I've known Evan through blogging, and have been one of his guest contributors for the Mastermind Group Resources Blog (you've got to check out this blog).

The Entrepreneur Blog Network is a network "profiling leading blogs which focus on entrepreneurship". Depending on the popularity of your blog, you will be assigned a category (Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze, and regular members) and will be required to put up one of the banners on your blog to show that you are a member of the network. In return, Evan will promote you on the Entrepreneur Blog Network home page, in his newsletter, and give you members only bi-weekly search engine strategies to help boost your blog's rankings. Sounds pretty cool, huh?

I'm honored to be the very first Platinum Member of the Entrepreneur Blog Network. (I was pleasantly surprised that my blog's Google page rank was better than I expected) :-)

Go and check out Evan's blogs and the Entrepreneur Blog Network!

FREE Teleclass: Awaken The Goddess Within
May 2007 Free Teleclass
Awaken The Goddess Within

When we were little girls, we spoke our minds and showed our true emotions. We were not afraid to be ourselves. Overtime, however, we were conditioned to behave in a certain way, and took on some false beliefs about our self and our world. We created all these "stories" (our interpretation of the actual events) in our heads about our past, present, and how our future looks like. Gradually, we gave up our own power because we bought into these false beliefs and "stories".

These false beliefs and "stories" hold us back, and prevent us from speaking our own truth, honoring our Authentic Self, and living the life we truly desire. You might feel like you are living a life according to others' expectations and rules, instead of your own.

Can you relate to this?

Mother's Day is approaching. For those of you who are mothers, especially if you have a daughter, I think it's a great time to reflect on who you are, as a woman and as a mom, and how YOU would like to live your life.

It's time to take back your power, and awaken the Goddess within YOU!

This month, I've invited my good friend & colleague Leigh Anne Sommers, B.A., C.G.F. as my guest speaker. In this Teleclass you will learn:

  • Acknowledging that we are the Goddess - erasing the chalkboard that we wrote our life story on and creating anew -- Cinderella to Goddess
  • Trading power over and powerlessness for the Power of the Goddess Within
  • Working with the Inner Power to consciously create our reality in every situation -- what would it take for me to create and receive (fill in the blank) this experience
  • Sharing the knowledge -- as a pebble drops in a pond the circles spread

Here are the Teleclass details:

  • Date: Friday, May 11, 2007
  • Time: 12:00pm Eastern/New York Time (11:00am Central, 9:00am Pacific)
